I love looking at cookbooks! For me a good cookbook has two requirements — the recipes have to be easy and there must be lots of pictures! Here are some new cookbooks that fit my criteria.
Fix-it and Forget-it Healthy 5-ingredient Cookbook: 150 Easy and Nutritious Slow Cooker Recipes by Hope Comerford
I use my Slow Cooker about once a week. I love the convenience of putting ingredients in the cooker in the morning and having a dinner ready for my family at night. The recipes in this book are quick and easy! I tried the “North Carolina Barbecue” and my family loved it! I also like that all the nutritional information is right on the recipe page so if you are cooking for someone on a special diet you can easily see the carb count or the sodium count.
Taste of Home Instant Pot Cookbook
I just recently jumped on the band wagon and bought an Instant Pot. I needed a trusty book to help me figure out what to do with it. To the rescue came Taste of Home (the same people that publish my favorite cooking magazine) Instant Pot cookbook. Beautiful pictures and simple recipes. The “Apple Balsamic Chicken” was excellent! In fact this was the first really good meal that came out of my instant pot besides macaroni and cheese!
Hero Dinners: Complete One-Pan Meals that Save the Day by Marge Perry and David Bonom
Speaking of Macaroni and Cheese, the Ooey Gooey Mac and Cheese recipe from Hero Dinners was delicious! My kids loved it and it was a great way to sneak in some vegetables. The only drawback to this cookbook is that it doesn’t include the nutritional information.
5 Ingredients: Quick & Easy Food by Jamie Oliver
If you are looking for something a little different but still simple, this could be the cookbook for you. Jamie Oliver is a British chef who believes in fresh simple food. I tried his recipe, “Sausage & Apple Bake” and it was really good. I’d never made parsnips before. The nutritional information is nicely displayed at the bottom of the page and each recipe has a nice picture!
Cali' Flour Kitchen: 125 Cauliflower-Based Recipes for the Carbs you Crave by Amy Lacey
It seems that cauliflower is the new “it” food. You can even buy frozen pizza with a cauliflower crust. The Cauliflower Steak with roasted cauliflower leaves was quick and simple to make. The downside to this cookbook was that the only nutritional information for the recipes is a list letting you know which recipes are gluten free, grain-free, paleo, Keto etc.…
Some other new cookbooks that I enjoyed but did not meet my criteria of being super easy or having lots of pictures are Dinner for Everyone by Mark Bittman, Eat What You Love by Marlene Koch, S’mores! by Dan Whalen and The Domestic Geek’s Meals Made Easy by Sara Lynn Cauchon.
